Dr. Megha Kadam Bedekar is a senior scientist in the Aquatic Environment and Health Management Division of ICAR-Central Institute of Fisheries Education, Mumbai. She is a PhD in Animal Biotechnology. She works on various aspects of aquatic animal health and has experience in this field for 12 years. She has expertise in working on molecular diagnosis, animal vaccine development and host-pathogen interaction. Presently, she is working on DNA vaccine development for freshwater fish and host-pathogen interaction using RNAi technology.

She has developed molecular diagnostic methods for infectious bronchitis virus, one of the most important diseases of poultry virus. She has developed a DNA vaccine construct against Edwardsiella tarda, a bacterial pathogen of fishand is currently working on its delivery system. She has handled seven externally funded projects as investigator and co-investigator. She was invited as faculty to work on stem cell development for angiogenesis at the University of Hertfordshire, United Kingdom.  She has published many research papers in peer reviewed journals. She is committed to work for betterment of aquatic animal health with modern approaches.
