Dr. M. Rosalind George is currently working as Professor and Head of the Department of Fish Pathology and Health Management in the Fisheries College and Research Institute of the Tamil Nadu Fisheries University. Following her PhD in vibriosis in shrimp culture systems, she has been working on the genomic plasticity of vibrios and use of herbals for shrimp disease control. Her team has investigated the genomic variations in shrimp bacterial pathogens, Vibrio spp. and documented stress induced genomic alterations in Vibrio harveyi and V. alginolyticus. She has established variation in infectivity potential of white spot syndrome virus and its association with genotypes. She has reported the characterisation of ranavirus infection from koi. She has been actively involved in the development of fish cell lines and immune gene expression in shrimp and fish. Recipient of a FAO fellowship for training in culture fish disease management at the University of Stirling, she has also won the Young Scientist Research Fellowship instituted by Asian Fisheries Society. She has operated national and international projects and she has over 30 national and international publications and over 50 presentations in national and international conferences.

In the current proposal she will be looking at the occurrence of diseases in the shrimp farms and will generate the histopathology of infected shrimps and its molecular diagnosis. She will also coordinate sampling of the selected farms for metagenomic analysis in the east coast of India.
